For this activity, students will rotate around the room solving one multiplication problem at each of eight stations. Then, they check their solution on a chart and fill in details to a silly mad lib story. When they finish, they can play again!
✅ How to Play Math Mad Libs for In-Person Classrooms:
- Prepare the 8 stations (print the question cards and solution charts - a total of 16 pages)
- Copy your favorite recording sheet - one for each student or group (3 styles to choose from)
- Assign students to a "starting station" and guide them as they solve math problems.
- Invite students to share their stories at the end.
✅ How to Play Math Mad Libs in Digital Classrooms:
- Share the Digital Math Mad Lib PowerPoint slideshow. Assign to Google Classroom using TPT Easel! It's so easy! (You may also upload the PowerPoint to Google Slides, but Google does not currently support all animations. The math problems will appear correctly, but the "boxes" will not disappear on command as they do in PowerPoint. Students can still complete the activity entirely on Google).
- Copy your favorite recording sheet - one for each student (3 styles to choose from) OR invite students to record on a piece of scrap paper at home
- Invite students to solve and then share their stories at the end.
